Ann-Margret

Ann-Margret Olson was born in 1942 in Stockholm, Sweden and brought to Wilmette, Illinois five years later. Green-eyed and red-haired, the innocent bombshell with one name, hyphenated, moved easily between torch songs and rock. She was discovered in 1960 by George Burns, who upon seeing her sing as a sophomore with the Northwestern University combo, "The Suttle Tones," put her into his act in Las Vegas. Then came a contract with 20th Century Fox, records with RCA Victor, a stint on the Jack Benny TV show, and an eight-page spread in Life magazine.

Buying: Her solo records are hard to find, and some of the soundtracks are very difficult (rent the movie instead), while others are ubiquitous. Also there are several RCA compilations reissuing odd tracks.
